The national pattern

Australian hotel pricing follows two primary cycles: school holiday spikes and seasonal demand shifts. The school holiday effect is the stronger of the two — prices across every major destination jump 30–60% during NSW, VIC and QLD school holidays regardless of the weather.

The cheapest windows nationally are the periods between school holidays in autumn (late April to early June) and late winter/early spring (mid-July to mid-September).

City-by-city cheapest months
